Over the past day, two patients with COVID-19 died. A number of sources note that statistics on COVID-19 mortality in Albania are underestimated. Indirect evidence of this is the discrepancy in daily mortality below five people with more than five thousand active infections, while in North Macedonia, with 2.5 times less active cases (and the same population), mortality is almost 10 people daily. The department notes that 5348 people are being treated for COVID-19 in the country. Around 1,600 family therapists supervise treatment at home. There are 182 patients on inpatient treatment, 18 of them are undergoing intensive therapy, five of them are connected to IVL devices. The largest number of active infections was found in Tirana, the port city of Durres and Shkodra. However, every day, over 80 per cent of the infections detected are in smaller cities. There is a rapid deterioration in the situation in the country: the number of daily infections is steadily higher than 100, while the number of recovers is many times lower. The country's medical system is heading for collapse. The situation is complicated by the beginning of the school year.
