Iran gained access to data from recorders of a downed Ukrainian airliner


Iranian specialists gained access to part of the data from the flight recorders of the IAU airliner shot down on January 8, 2020 by the Iranian military over Tehran. This was reported on August 23 by the Associated Press with reference to the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran. Some of the information that Iranian experts have gained access to includes recordings of pilots' conversations. According to Turaj Dekhkani Zangene, head of the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran, the duration of the recordings that were made after the explosion of the first anti-aircraft missile is 19 seconds. The second rocket hit the airliner 25 seconds after the first. In this regard, Zangene admitted that the fragments of the first rocket disrupted the operation of recording devices on the aircraft. It is noted that when extracting data from flight recorders, representatives of the United States of America, Ukraine, France, Canada, Great Britain and Sweden were present.
