Chinese public discusses candidates for the country's highest awards

A list of candidates nominated for top state awards has been published in China. This is due to the practice of discussing candidates with the participation of the general public, Xinhua reports on August 3, citing information circulated by the Working Committee on the awarding of party and state awards and honors. Academician Zhong Nanshan, the patriarch of Chinese epidemiology, whose role in combating the coronavirus epidemic is recognized as exceptional, is given a special place in the list of applicants. Also in the epidemiological nomination, several more specialists nominated for state honorary titles were noted: academician of the Engineering Academy of China Zhang Boli, head of the hospital in Wuhan Zhang Dingyu, researcher at the Academy of Military Sciences Chen Wei. It is reported that the list of candidates was compiled based on a wide poll of the public.
