On the eve of the decisive battles of 1920 - Oleg Ayrapetov

The 100th anniversary of the end of the Civil War in the European part of Russia coincides with so many important events of domestic history that it is very, very difficult to list. Nevertheless, one can safely claim after the unforgettable 1919, which, it would seem, brought the victory of the Bolsheviks over their strongest enemies in the south (A.I. Denikin) and east (A.V. Kolchak) of the country came an equally easy year for the new government. The situation of Soviet Russia remained very difficult, the ring of fronts was weakened, but the hostile environment remained. Moreover, there was the prospect of a big war on two fronts with Japan and Poland, at the same time, the RSFSR simply could not withstand the confrontation with two such enemies.
