Media community of Kyrgyzstan demands to institute criminal proceedings against deputies

Kyrgyz media and journalists turned to the leadership of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan with a statement in which they demanded that the speaker and deputies of the republican parliament be prosecuted for illegally adopting a law on information manipulation, Kaktus.media writes. They note that in fact, only 30 out of 120 deputies attended the parliamentary meeting held the day before, June 25, some of whom voted for their absent colleagues, doing so without hiding. And the speaker Dastanbek Dzhumabekov, who saw this, did not make attempts to stop them. Thus, the people's elected representatives violated the regulations of parliament, which states that the deputy must vote in person and does not have the right to transfer the right to vote to another deputy. Thus, the actions of parliamentarians see signs of malicious and deliberate use of official powers, which caused significant harm to the rights and freedoms of citizens, as well as the interests of absent deputies, whose will was replaced, the authors of the petition emphasize. Representatives of the media community believe that the special services of Kyrgyzstan should initiate a criminal case against these deputies and the speaker under part 4 of article 320 of the Criminal Code, which provides for a maximum sentence of imprisonment of 7 years and 6 months to 10 years for abuse of office contrary to the interests of the service and causing significant harm.
