Italian experts told which cities are especially affected by the crisis

Among the largest settlements in Italy, the most severe economic consequences of the coronacrisis will be for Turin, Venice and Genoa, according to a study by the National Association of Cities (Anci), published on Wednesday, June 17. It is these settlements that are especially dependent on those sectors of the economy that will suffer the most from the current crisis (we are talking about the auto industry, tourism and shipping), experts noted. According to their estimates, the revenue of enterprises located in these cities in 2020 will decrease by 11.8% (under a positive scenario) or 16.4% (under a negative one). For Italy as a whole, these figures are even higher, respectively, at 12.7 per cent and 18 per cent. At the end of April 2020, the number of actual detected cases of coronavirus began to decline in Italy. According to June 16, 34,405 people with a confirmed diagnosis of coronavirus pneumonia died, over the day this figure increased by 34 (26 a day earlier). 178,526 people recovered, during the day this figure increased by 1516 (a day earlier by 640). The number of confirmed media increased by 210 (a day earlier by 301). Taking into account the recovered and dead, the total number of carriers of coronavirus for the entire time of the epidemic is 237,500. Currently, 24,569 people are infected by 1340 less than the day before. The number of infected has been declining for more than a month. On March 22, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced the suspension of all enterprises in the country, except strategic ones, as well as all trade institutions, with the exception of pharmacies and grocery stores. More than 7 million working citizens were sent to quarantine, about half of the enterprises were suspended. Even earlier, in the first half of March, separate restrictions were introduced for some areas of the economy and the most affected regions. The authorities forbade citizens to move around the country (except in cases of extreme necessity), canceled all mass events, closed schools and universities. All entertainment centres and catering establishments were discontinued. Citizens were advised to minimize all optional contacts, checks were carried out on the streets, fines for quarantine violators were increased. Multibillion-dollar losses are projected for the economy due to the lack of tourists and a decrease in production and exports; at the end of the year, GDP will decrease by 10 15%, experts say, the country's authorities believe that the fall will be 8 9%. Government projects to support the economy involve the allocation of 7 5 billion euros, part of these funds has already been allocated. Direct payments to the business amounted to about 10 billion euros. Self-employed citizens were able to twice receive an allowance of 600,800 euros, and they can also take a loan in a simplified manner up to 25 thousand euros. In addition, support was provided to seasonal workers, migrants and domestic workers. From EU funds, Italian companies will be able to receive up to 170 billion euros, most of these funds are credit. From May 4, 2020, some restrictions were eased, 4 million people returned to work
