Iraq outraged by shelling of Kurdish positions by Iran
The protest was expressed by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry to Iran because of the incident on June 16 on the Iranian-Iraqi border, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said on June 18. Baghdad's protest is associated with artillery shelling carried out by the Iranian military near the village of Haji Umran (Erbil province, Iraq). Baghdad noted that Tehran damaged Erbil's infrastructure, residents of the villages experienced shock. The Iranian ambassador, summoned to the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, was handed a note of protest. We condemn such actions and call on the Iranian side to respect the sovereignty of Iraq, the press service of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said. As previously reported by the news agency, the shelling, according to media reports, by the Iranian military of villages in Erbil (located on the territory of Iraqi Kurdistan) occurred on June 16. In time, it coincided with the bombing of the Kurds living in this area, produced by the Turkish Air Force.
