Chinese lunar station Chang'e-4 went into sleep

The automatic interplanetary station Chang'e-4 completed the next period of activity on the far side of the moon on June 28, Xinhua News Agency reports. China's Chang'e-4 station landed in the area of Von Karman crater on the far side of the moon on January 3, 2019. A few days later, the Yuitu-2 moon rover separated from the station. Both the station and the moon rover are in active mode only during the lunar day, approximately equal to 14 Earth days. During lunar night, direct sunlight does not hit the reverse side of the Earth's satellite, so solar panels stop generating electricity and spacecraft go to sleep. During the next period of activity, the Yuitu-2 moon rover examined a small crater and transmitted the obtained data to Earth. By June 28, the total amount of distance traveled by the moon was 463.26 meters. As previously reported by the news agency, in December 2019, Yuitu-2 broke the record of the Soviet Lunokhod-1 for the duration of operation of a mobile device on the moon.
